I'm an insurance consumer (like most of us,) and my sister is an insurance professional. We prefer to go through life anonymously, but we do have some opinions about the insurance industry to share with the world. Who hasn't felt the frustrations of trying to navigate the morass of health insurance?? Exactly. Getting coverage, getting payments to go through correctly, managing deductibles, it's all a nightmare.
Fasten your seatbelts, kids - let's discuss this bitch of a topic, shall we?

Madam Insurance Professional after a day in the life. It never ceases to amaze me that even from within, the systems used to make determinations on consumer claims are 30 years old. Would you go to a surgeon who uses 30 year old techniques? No you wouldn't. It is the 21st century and most insurance companies still depend almost solely on paper. Who does that anymore? Archaic! We've made our own processes so complicated that even most of us don't know how to navigate it easily. Sound familiar? Yep, just like red tape of any government run system. And yet, we're privately owned. I've got a few ideas on how to make the systems easier. Stand by and step aside Bill Gates. I'm coming through.
